Fall 2022 concerts
I Cantori di Carmel will present J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (Weihnachtsoratorium), Cantatas I-III in December. An annual tradition in Germany, this work tells the Christmas story in three parts. The first section describes the birth of Jesus, the second the announcement of the birth to the shepherds, and the third the adoration of the shepherds as they see the child.
For these performances, the soloists will be young professional singers and advanced voice students who have participated in I Cantori's new Vocal Arts Academy, a 4-day intensive seminar that will provide aspiring singers with training in all aspects of performance practice of Baroque music and Bach's work in particular.
Performances will be on Friday, December 9 in Santa Cruz, Saturday and Sunday, December 10 & 11 in Carmel, and on Saturday, December 17 in San Jose. Be sure to put this wonderful holiday program on your calendar!

In September of 1981, several members of the Carmel Bach Festival Chorus formed I Cantori di Carmel (“the Singers of Carmel”) to bring together singers dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in choral performance. I Cantori is a volunteer chorus of auditioned singers and our programs include major choral works as well as lesser-known jewels of the choral repertoire.
