June 14 to July 1, 2012
I Cantori will be going on tour next summer from June 14 to July1, 2012. We will begin in Krakow, Poland, and travel through Germany and into Belgium and end in Amsterdam. Along the way, we will sing 8 formal and informal concerts, one or two in conjunction with local choirs. We plan to sing in Bach’s St. Thomas Church in Leipzig and hope to do a church service in the Cologne Cathedral. We will visit a historic salt mine that has a concert hall in it (and, of course, sing in it), visit Auschwitz, spend time in Berlin and Bruges, and in general have a grand time. We still have openings available for the tour (we expect to have 35-40 participants). Family and friends are welcome to accompany singers. Our travel choir will number about 25 singers. Some of the music we sing this fall and next spring will be in the travel repertoire along with a variety of pieces new and from past tours. Cost for the 18 day tour will be approximately $4800. This includes airfare, lodging, transportation, breakfasts, most dinners, guided tours, and admission fees to various sites. An attachment to this Clef Notes gives details of the itinerary and travel information. If you are interested in joining the tour, respond to this email or talk to Susan Mehra (cell 831 917-1141) or Elizabeth Behrens/Nagle (372-3674) by phone or at rehearsal. It is our aim to make the tour possible for all interested I Cantori singers. To this end, we offer financial assistance to a limited number of singers up to ½ the tour cost. Let us know if you would like more information about this possibility.
